Our Board of Directors
KIM MARTINEZ | ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
Originally from the Twin Cities, Kim was born into a family of entertainers and dance instructors. She has spent her 40+ year career performing, teaching and nurturing the talent of young people here in the Twin Cities Area. She has taught master classes in Los Angeles, Chicago, New York and Tokyo. She considers her special talent is that of recognizing and developing talent in others, and thrives on seeing the best being brought out of young, dedicated performers.
MARCEY BOLTER MASTBAUM | VICE PRESIDENT
Marcey is a co-founder, VP of the Board and den mom for Out on a Limb Dance Theater Company and School. She was President and Owner of MedSearch Corp. a staffing and placement firm that specialized in healthcare for 42 years. Back in the day, she was a DJ for KQRS and an engineer for WCCO-FM. Her love of music brought her into the dance world in a different way, dancing to her favorite bands in the clubs in the Twin Cities during the 70's and 80's...she can still be seen dancing when she can stay up that late. Her sons David and Jeremy Bensussan started dancing under the tutelage of Kim Martinez and Amber Rosah Keeley in the 90's and the rest is history.
CAROL CANTRELL | SECRETARY
Carol is originally from New York and moved to the Twin Cities in the late 70's. Her association with dance began when her daughter, Robin started taking lessons at age 5. Kim Martinez was her tap teacher and Amber Keeley was her ballet teacher. Robin Cantrell is now a professional dancer in New York City and is the artistic director of her own company. Carol's interest in seeing the dance programs switch emphasis from competition to performance-based inspired her to become involved in Out on a Limb. She was the original costumer for their early shows and has served as Board Secretary since OOAL's inception in 2000.
ANNIE GIBSON | BOARD MEMBER
An original member of the Board of Directors, Annie is a wife, mother, grandmother, and a Special Education Teacher in the St. Paul School District. Her daughter, Karissa danced with Out on a Limb for many years (leading her to teaching and choreographing opportunities in the community, which Annie credits to her training at Limb) and now she loves watching her granddaughter, Nevaeh in class at the studio, too! Annie truly believes in the vision and mission of Out on a Limb, that dance should be at reach for all who have a desire to dance. She also enjoys seeing the outreach program come to life, when children are given the opportunity to see a dance performance that some of them may not otherwise see. Annie is a happy and proud member of Out on a Limb!
Gretchen Gasterland | Gustafsson-Treasurer
Professor of Liberal Arts at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, Gretchen serves on several local non-profit boards and collaborates with local artists on various projects involving both writing and making. Gretchen's children, Emma and Lilly enjoyed dancing with Limb for many years until they moved away for schooling. Since then, Gretchen has been involved with costuming the shows at The O'Shaughnessy, and many other projects as they arise.
